A family theatre group that goes back many generations, Sri Venkateswara Surabhi Theatre is one of the most renowned company theatre troupes across the world. With a repertory of plays based in Hindu mythology and Puranas, this travelling troupe takes their plays across the country, including performing at internationally-recognized festivals such as the Bharat Rang Mahotsav and Bahuroopi, among others. The 6th-generation director, Surabhi Jayachandra Varma, who currently leads the troupe, is a recipient of the prestigious Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar Award, 2016.

Dance It Out
When the world is no longer your stage... 30 acrobats physicalise the shared exhaustion, frustration and complications of living within drastically limited space, creating absurdity and beauty while stuck on their sofas. We'd love to see your #MySofaDance!
There are instructions on our blog if you need some guidance on creating your own #MySofaDance and we're also leading a Sofa Dance workshop for families at The Spark Festival this Saturday, 13th February and Monday, 15th Fevruary 2021, organised by The Spark Arts for Children.

The Creature That Nobody Saw PART 1 by Garlic Theatre.

Join Garlic Theatre for the first zoom workshop session for Skipton Puppet Festival on Tuesday 10th August! We will be showing this film as part of the session and then it will be available for everyone to view after that.
http://www.skiptonpuppetfestival.co.uk

Somehow there is always a sock missing – where are they all, where do they go? Mark and Iklooshar from Garlic Theatre have created three imaginative and gentle short films about the adventures of a strange creature living secretly in a house.

Why not make your own set and puppets at home to create a little puppet show about your own creature living in your house guided by our helpful PDF's? Here are some tips on how to use the films and PDF's to help you do this.

We recommend watching Part 1 and then looking at the first PDF of activities which will help you make a little den for your creature.

Then you can watch Part 2 and look at the second PDF of instructions which will guide you to make your own puppet of your very own creature to live in the den you have made earlier.

After watching Part 3, the third PDF will give you helpful tips on creating your own story and puppet show.

Let your imagination go wild and create and perform your own wonderful and beautiful stories.

This film is the first in a trilogy of imaginative puppetry films without words which was commissioned and funded by The Library Presents… In Your House autumn programme in 2020.

Puppetry Mark Pitman
Edited and filmed by Iklooshar Malara
Music by Iklooshar Malara
Special thanks to Rene Baker for helping to puppeteer and for the use of her Baker Studios in Diss.
