With theatres around the world closed and with no idea when we would be able to create work for a live audience we at Skewbald Theatre had the idea to create theatrical online stories for our audience - little ones and their grown-ups. DIGITALES was born, we collaborated with artists from around the UK to create exciting, engaging and free performances.

Supported by Arts Council England, here is a glimpse into our summer of lockdown 2020 creative. We thank all the artists who worked so hard to produce beautiful pieces. We hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed created these bespoke performances.

Meet Fiachra, Conn, Aodhn and Fionnghula the children of the great sea god Lir. Lir has remarried and their new stepmother isn’t too keen on her new husband’s brood. With every passing day she grows more and more jealous. Watch the story unfold as the children become prey to their stepmother’s envy. With ‘Magical Mystical Irishy Sorcery’ the children begin a transformative quest and journey among a strange land with even stranger inhabitants.
Our Tiny Epically, Fantastical, magical journey interweaves storytelling, puppetry, original song/music, and zany characters to bring young audiences a message of caring for the environment, as well as introducing them to some of the famous myths of Ireland. This film was produced using recycled and repurposed materials.

The second part of this Irish adventure and the opening of the autumn 2020 season of DIGITALES, online stories for little ones.

Continuing their quest, join the now swan transformed children of Lir as they meet a ‘Giant’ of a fisherman with a quest of his own, journey through the land of shadow and meet a helpful Selkie who could hold the key to transform the swans back into human form... Can they reverse Aoife’s curse? Will Aoife’s Howling Wild Winds destroy more of the land? Will the children be reunited with their father?

For years, in North Wales the legend went that whenever the wind howled, the rain fell, and the sea raged, if you listened closely you would hear bells ringing out in the distance. The bells of Cantre’r Gwealod. The one day a storm blew in and revealed the remains of an ancient forest.
Using magical shadow puppetry and original music, the city beneath the sea takes us on a journey back in time to where this story begins.

Our fourth instalment of the DIGITALES autumn 2020 season. These theatrical online performances were created during lockdown by a group of theatre makers from all over the UK. Designed especially for children but enjoyed by the whole family.

Join Alexander through his weird and wonderful adventure in the forest as a magical dwarf helps him to run and hide from an angry troll. Cast mystical spells with the dwarf as he transforms Alexander into many different woodland animals so not to be seen by the troll. Will Alexander escape home safely to his daughter?
Story adapted by our composing performer, Adam Elliott. The story is filmed in the enchanting Coldfall Wood, East Finchley with original soundtrack composed by Adam himself. Experience the magic throughout the telling of the old folklore tale of Alexander, The Dwarf & The Troll.

“Turning the Tide” our firth DIGITALE, online stories for little ones. Created in the UK's first lockdown of 2020.

This is a mini adventure taken by our Sea Turtle hero, where they discover their fellow sea creature friends at the bottom of the ocean.
Using original music, a mixture of different puppets and made entirely from recycled and repurposed material, with the idea of keeping our rubbish out of the oceans, this piece encourages its audience to creatively reduce, reuse and recycle whilst thinking about the impact we have on our sea creatures friends.

Skewbald Theatre' sixth DIGITALE of the Autumn 2020 season. "Arion and the Dolphin” created and performed by William Uden, with music by Olivia Thompson and Gaby Duboisjoli

Join professional Idiot, William Uden as he tells the story of Arion (The greatest lutist in all of Ancient Greece) and the Dolphin (A Dolphin). Kidnapped by pirates and hurtling overboard into the Aegean Sea, is there anyone (or thing) that can save Arion from his watery fate and can justice ever be restored to the people of Corinth!? There’s only one way to find out! Come for the story, stay for the green screen. Music will never be the same again. Arion and the Dolphin.
