This workshop has been designed for children roughly 3-6 years old, with help from an adult alongside. You'll need space to dance on the spot, and some materials for the crafting exercise:
- a container with a lid (that could be a tupperware, bottle or clean jar)
- something to go inside to make a shakey sound (that could be sand, pebbles, lentils, rice or dry beans)

Teaching Design and Technology?

The clip could be used to demonstrate how to make a mask and the teacher could ask the children to design and make their own masks based on a theme, for example an African theme. Once the mask has been completed, the children could write a 'how to' manual to help others make a mask. Use the clip as instructions for making masks for different topics, such as Africa, Japan, Ancient Greece, animals, Halloween or for role-play activities.

This clip will be relevant for teaching Design and Technology, Art and Textiles at KS1 and KS2.

People Behind the Puppets | Shaun Lati | Little Angel Theatre

Take part in fun family dance workshops designed for children aged 2 to 6 years (and big kids too!)

In this creative movement workshop we follow the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Skip through the forest, sneak in to the house on your tiptoes like Goldilocks, and find out what happens when the Three Bears arrive home!

The sessions are designed for children aged 2 to 6 years but many of the activities offer a fun challenge for older primary school children too.

These workshops are specially created for families with younger children to do from home while nurseries and schools are closed. They form part of Sadler’s Wells’ ‘Take Part’ series. The workshops are led by Cherie Coleman, who runs the popular Family Fridays sessions at Sadler’s Wells.

Movement activities like these have a range of benefits – they can enhance cognitive development, encourage creativity, increase flexibility and range of movement, and help to develop physical strength and stamina.
